March Favourites

Hey cupcakes! I can’t believe it’s already the end of March! This year is just going by so quickly already! This months favourites see the return of an old faithful as well as a couple of things I’ve finally got around to using! Enjoy x

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

I raved about the famous Cleanse and Polish before but I ran out and hadn’t made it to a John Lewis store to pick up anymore. While I was in Manchester at the Trafford Centre I got a new 200ml bottle and it’s just as good as I remember! I’ve mentioned in other posts how bad my skin has been recently so I’m hoping the reintroduction of this amazing product to my skincare regime will help! If you’ve still not tried it, I thoroughly recommend giving it a go!

VO5 Miracle Concentrate

This Miracle Concentrate gets raved about a lot as a cheap and easily accessible alternative to Morrocan Oil and I have to agree. It smells amazing and makes my hair so soft and shiny. I split my hair in half and use a pipette’s worth on each side after I’ve washed and blow dried my hair until it’s just a bit damp. After applying I let my hair finish drying naturally and I love how healthy it leaves my hair feeling.

Illamasqua Cream Blush in Dixie and MAC Eyeshadow in Omega

Dixie was my first ever Illamasqua purchase and I  love it. Its very pigmented so a little goes a long way but it adds a beautifully natural flush to the cheeks. It’s very long lasting and is often what I reach for when I’m doing my makeup for work as I know it’ll stay looking fresh all day. I recently picked up another cream blush from the Illamasqua store in Liverpool so I’ll be doing full reviews of that one and Dixie soon.

You probably know exactly what I’m going to say about Omega eyeshadow. I jumped on the beauty community bandwagon and bought this to use on my brows (a la Nic from Pixiwoo!). It’s just the right tone for me and when using it to fill in my brows i’m left with a polished, natural set of brows. I love it! Previously I was using a product closer in shade to MAC Espresso but that was just way too dark!

Garnier Intensive 7 days Hand Cream in SOS-Repair

The body lotion from the Intensive 7 days range gets a lot of press but I’ll be honest I only picked this up because it was on offer in Boots when I needed a new hand cream. However, after the first use I could see how good it was. I get quite dry hands because being a nurse I’m obviously always washing them. I apply this when I go to bed and it leaves my hands soft and moisturised, more then any other hand cream I’ve ever used. It’s quite a thick cream but isn’t at all greasy. Definitely worth a look!
Blistex Intensive Moisturiser

I’ve always been a faithful Vaseline fan but because of my bad skin I didn’t want to apply anything too greasy to face. I picked this up to use over night and so far I’m really liking it. It’s minty and leaves your lips with a bit of a tingling sensation which is nice. The one thing I will say is that it leaves a bit of a while cast to your lips but as I use this when I’m in bed that doesn’t bother me too much.
Clinique All About Eyes
I’ve mentioned before that I always used to neglect eye cream from my nightly skincare routine. I got this Clinique one free with Glamour magazine last year and it say unloved in a drawer for months. Back in February I thought I’d give it a go and I actually can’t believe how soothing it is. It leaves the skin around my eyes so smooth and I’d actually say since using this my eyeshadow applies slightly better during the day. That being said, at £23 for 15ml or £39 for 30ml I’m not sure I’d ever justify buying the full size version!
MUA Sweet Kiss Lip Balm

Like a lot of bloggers I was lucky enough to be invited to the MUA launch of their Love Hearts Collection but unfortunately due to work I wasn’t able to attend. I picked up some bits from the range anyway as it was so pretty but I know the bloggersphere was a bit saturated with reviews of the range so I didn’t do a full post. Sweet Kiss is definitely one of my favourites out of the lip balms. I’ve especially liked wearing this over my MAC Viva Glam Nicki lipstick as it mutes the colour ever so slightly and leaves a nice gloss. For only £2 I don’t think you can go wrong with MUA!

L-R – Illamasqua Cream Blush in Dixie, MAC Eyeshadow in Omega and MUA Sweet Lips Lip Balm

So those were my favourites for March! On a side note you will probably have noticed my photographs aren’t as great in terms of quality or editing as normal. I recently got a new laptop that doesn’t have any existing photo editing software on it. I tried the trial of Photoshop but it was just too technical for me so for this post I edited my photos on the BeFunky website. It was okay but not amazing and I prefer an actual program rather then using a website. If anyone has any recommendations for a new photo editing program please let me know! I used to use Picnik but as that will no longer exist as of next week I’m desperately hunting for a replacement! Thanks guys :)
