BEAUTIFUL, WEALTHY, POWERFUL WOMEN? OR JUST PLAIN UGLY?

Everyone has their own opinion of what Beauty is. We don’t all agree on what “Beautiful” looks like. Do we agree that money equals power?

Two friends of mine confided in me this week with similar problems. I thought it was interesting considering they don’t know each other. Both work for women with money, women with power, who are outspoken and “blunt.” Is being “blunt” an excuse to be rude?

I found it interesting that each of these women are professional, educated, confident, wealthy, and take pride in their appearance. Looking at them, most young girls would think “I’d like to have that someday.”

As women, I believe we should celebrate each other’s accomplishments. We should cheer each other on. But who am I kidding? Wouldn’t that mean we lived in a perfect world? We don’t and there will always be someone trying to put us down or hold us back. Unfortunately that’s the society we live in.

I’m going to be honest and this may be where we disagree. Money makes a difference. It affects many things. Who would choose to live pay check to pay check and struggle if they could choose to win the lottery tomorrow? I know I’d take the cash. But does having money give women an excuse to look down on each other? Does it somehow mean they are more attractive? More powerful?

Sure, having all the money in the world could buy you the best cosmetics there are. It can in fact give you power. But does it give you an excuse to put others down? It seems to be the case this week.

If only those little girls knew the truth behind these “beautiful” women. Take away their fancy cars, their incredible careers, and what are they left with? They’re alone. They’re sad and bitter. Putting their nose up doesn’t fool everyone.

How amazing would it be to work for a strong, caring woman? A woman who sees a struggling single mom and doesn’t look down at her? Wouldn’t it be great if a woman in a higher position could offer words of encouragement?

The world is full of beautiful women. It’s full of beautiful, wealthy, powerful women. Wouldn’t it be a better world if we all cheered each other on no matter how much money we made? Or offered a helping hand rather than cutting words?

Money can do many things. But it can’t change ugly. We were born with nothing. We leave with nothing. I think it’s easy to get caught up in things and forget where we all started. We can wear millions on our finger but we’re no different than anyone else.

We should remember that words can cut deep. Sometimes they affect some people more than others. If you are a wealthy powerful woman, maybe you should remember how you got there and be a role model. If you aren’t wealthy, you should know you’re just as powerful as those who are. Beauty, wealth and power all come in different forms.
